Pop-up events across London blended AR and reality to give away prizes

Challenge

In the Summer of 2022, Amex launched an SMT campaign which allowed users to collect blue boxes in Augmented Reality. The campaign was based in London and pop up events were held in several different locations. Blue boxes were opened in AR and users had the opportunity to win lots of different prizes.

A London-based campaign which allowed users to collect blue boxes in Augmented Reality. Pop up events were held in several different locations in which users had the opportunity to win prizes by collecting the blue mystery boxes.

Surface recognition technology allowed users to place their digital objects in AR and tap to reveal their prize. Users also collected boxes by searching for them on the map in an AR scavenger hunt around London.
