Objective

Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) aimed to provide pubs with a revenue source during the pandemic, where lockdown meant pubs were unable to generate funds; beyond the pandemic, the ambition was to build loyalty with their customer base through gamified interactions and in addition, enable the compliant capture of first party data for future customer engagement.

Solution

Austella and CUB executed a multi-campaign Web3 engagement platform across 2,100 Australian pubs. Initially consumers purchased beers via a CUB-branded wallet, with beer tokens redeemable post-lockdown and pubs receiving revenue monthly. Beyond the pandemic, various gamified campaigns were launched to cement loyalty with their customers.

Results

Over 2,100 pubs participated, with CUB matching AUD$2M in beer purchases. The campaign engaged 22k consumers, issued 379k beer tokens, and led to 20 additional Web3 campaigns released by CUB/Asahi.
